Château de Clérac, just a 30 minute drive from Bordeaux, and set in the beautiful Haute-Saintonge countryside of the Charente-Maritime is both a cost-effective alternative to a luxury villa and a unique opportunity to be king of your own castle! The chateau, in the village of Clérac, lies at the centre of its 22 acres of walled gardens, forests and outbuildings. The château has a pool - an outdoor 11x5m salt-water pool which is but 50m from the gardens at the rear of the chateau. Inside the chateau you'll find plenty of space. On the ground floor there's a huge salon, fully equipped kitchen, dining room, library, gallery and lounge. The bedrooms and their en-suites are on the 1st floor of the château, together with the upstairs gallery, linnen room and hall. The approxmate floor area of Chateau de Clérac is 750 metres squared (about 8000sq feet). We usually operate a self catering chateau rental, by the week , weekend or other period. However, we can organize catering on occassion. We also offer Bed and Breakfast at the chateau out of peak season. By Plane

The region is very well served for air travel. The main airport in the region is Bordeaux International Airport (BOD), which is about 45mins (60km) to the south.

There are, however, 3 other airports within an 80km (50 mile) radius, 2 of which have many international flights:

Bergerac Airport (EGC) - approx 60mins - served by KLM, Ryanair, flybe, Airlinair

Angoulême Airport (ANG) - approx 60mins - served by Air France

Périgueux Airport (PGX) - approx 90mins - served by Airlinair

Within a 2 hour drive of the château, there are several other international airports, such as La Rochelle (LRH), Poitiers (PIS) and Limoges (LIG).
