Rent a Napoleonic chateau for the price of a villa! With Château de Clérac you can be king of the castle for no more than you would pay for a villa. Rent or hire the chateau on a self-catering basis per weekend, per week or even longer; or just bed and breakfast. We also offer wine tasting and painting courses at the castle.

If you are looking to rent a luxury gite in France for up to 15 people then you've probably thought of a villa, with its own pool. But would you have thought you could hire a castle in France for the same price? Château de Clérac, just a 30 minute drive from Bordeaux, and set in the beautiful Haute-Saintonge countryside of the Charente-Maritime is both a cost-effective alternative to a luxury villa and a unique opportunity to be king of your own castle! The chateau, in the village of Clérac, lies at the centre of its 22 acres of walled gardens, forests and outbuildings. The château has a pool - an outdoor 11x5m salt-water pool which is but 50m from the gardens at the rear of the chateau. Inside the chateau you'll find plenty of space. On the ground floor there's a huge salon, fully equipped kitchen, dining room, library, gallery and lounge. The bedrooms and their en-suites are on the 1st floor of the château, together with the upstairs gallery, linnen room and hall. The approxmate floor area of Chateau de Clérac is 750 metres squared (about 8000sq feet). We usually operate a self catering chateau rental, by the week , weekend or other period. However, we can organize catering on occassion. We also offer Bed and Breakfast at the chateau out of peak season. By Car

From Bordeaux follow directions for Paris (A10). One mile (1.6km) before the A10 péage, to your right, follow the N10 towards Angouleme and after about 17 km take the exit for Bedenac. Follow directions for Clérac.

If coming from the north, exit the N10 at Montlieu la Garde, follow directions to Montguyon, then to Clérac.

The Château is located at 11 route des Châteaux. Follow signs for the museum of Clérac (just past the church), continue past the garage (Eurorepar) on your right - the Chateau driveway is next on your left.
