With 113,000 hectares
(276,000 acres) of vineyards
and almost 1000 years of wine-making
history, Bordeaux is the largest
and oldest fine wine producing
region in the entire world!
Bordeaux has a huge variety
of landscapes, soil types and
sorts of wines, resulting in
no less than 57 appellations.
Wine-tasting at
Château de Clérac
| Over the years
we've found that while many
of guests enjoy discovering
the huge abundance of wines
from the local areas, several
feel "uncomfortable"
with French wine as it's
often not easy to tell where
it has come from and also
what grapes were used to
make it. Some would have
preferred a short course
so that they might have
been better informed and
more confident when going
around the various vineyards
during their stay. |
|
Then there are
the guests who know their Pauillac's
from their Pomerol's and would
like to try something that would
otherwise be hard to get back
home or prohobatively expensive.
If they could have tasted something
like this they would have been
able to visit the chateaux in
question.
This is why we
developped wine-tasting courses
that are held at the Chateau.
All wine tastings are held in
the Dining Room and are conducted
(in English) by an expert in
the field.
"Tour de France"
of Wine
 |
This course is for a wide range
of people - from total beginners
to wine enthusiasts - and aims
to explain and occasionally de-mystify,
all things to do with French wine!
You'll learn how to taste wine
like the experts and learn to
recognize specific regional varieties.
6 reds and 4 whites will be tasted
(although this can be varied with
prior consent).
Please contact
us for more details.

the ball rolling!
